I work 12h per day here is how

If you can work 10h per day FOCUSED, you'll win.
It's simple.
If you can work 40h focused per week vs. your competitors only doing 20h, you win… by a mile.
So how in the world can someone focus for 40h?
I sucked at this. Now I'm averaging 54h of work per week, of which 36h are focused work.
(I'm super nerdy about tracking everything :D check out Rize.)
You need two things:
- A system
- Time to learn it
Here's how you can get to 8-10h of focused work 👇
1. Work environment
Separate your work environment from your private environment.
In practice this means:
- Work desk in a different room with nothing on it
- Or coworking / office space
It's a luxury, so if it's not possible for you, don't worry — it's not a deal breaker.
2. Make focus a priority
Block the first 5h of your working day for focus work.
Again, a luxury — but if your life depended on it, could you make it happen? I bet.
Focus first, meetings later. You'll get 80% of your day done before 1 PM.
3. Pomodoro 60/10
Set a 60-minute timer. Once it starts, you're only allowed to do focus work.
Then take a 10-minute break. When it starts, don't do anything on your screen.
That's it.
4. Focus routine
A routine (almost a ritual) helps you get into a focused state.
Here's mine:
- Write down what I want to get done in the next 60 min
- Put on noise-canceling headphones
- Start the 10h white noise playlist lol
- Start a 60 min timer
- Focus
- Submit a Google Form about what I've done this session for accountability (it gets sent into a public Slack channel)
- Take a 10 min break
- Repeat
5. Increase focus hours step by step
Focus is a muscle.
If you're not used to it, it's like going to the gym for the first time and trying to bench 100kg.
You need to start low and build up.
Start with 2h per day and add 1h each week until you hit your target.
Also, shoutout to Matthew Larsen, who I learned most of this from.
